First Bloom of Summer

The time has finally come. I've been waiting since spring, and watching my climbing rose grow. I had 12 buds on my bush before I left for Kapooka, and upon my return found all buds had died. I was so disappointed. After speaking with a friend who is a horticulturist, I learnt that it was due to fungus. So after a good pruning back, fertilising, composting, and spraying the new buds with a fungus killer, I now have a beautiful rose bush once again. This morning I counted 15, including my first rose bloom above! Last year I only had 2, so I'm rather excited! This rose will keep opening up, so I'll post another pick once it's fully opened. It's an old fashioned french rose (Pierre de Ronsard), and has a subtle fragrance. When there's a few more that have bloomed I'll have to take another pic. I can't wait for the whole trellis to be covered, but that probably won't happen until next year.

Of course, Philomena had to get in on the camera action.

I love beautiful gardens, Kerry.
Honestly, that Philly is going to be an actress when she grows up - look at that expression!

Roses love it when you treat them mean and prune the heck out of them once or twice a year :)

Yeah...Phil is cute...lol...and you guessed right - definitely a little actress. She does the dance and singing routine, and bows after her performance, and then says..."thank you, thank you" on our applause! She's now started doing voice overs. She told me the story of Goldilocks yesterday - complete with deep voice for papa bear, slightly higher intonation for mama bear, and her cutest baby voice for baby bear. She also makes up her own stories and puts them into song. We've also just bought 'charades' for little people, and she loves it! Okay...enough about Phil...lol...

Liz - you have roses too? I have to be honest. I only like to grow the 'climbing variety'. Not fussed on standard roses.

Ahhh... those are georgous photos, Kerry. My favourite time of the year for flowers in the garden is Autumn. Not being a green thumb myself, I don't know that name of the flower, however, it's pink, it blooms every autumn, and it grows on bushes on that surround my front porch.

On a completely different note, did you know that Craig Harper's doing a Renvote Your Body day in Brisbane this Sunday? There's also an open invite to meet up on the Saturday night and a fitness session on the Sunday morning.

Thanks Robyn about the thumbs up on Craig Harper. I have to be honest, and not intending to sound arrogant, but I'm sought of past what Craig Harper has to offer in his teachings. It seems to be aimed at a particular audience. I still do get some insightful lessons from his posts, but on the whole, I'm in a different head space.

However, if what he's offering is of interest to you, then I say GO FOR IT! Because in the end it's all about what inspires you to keep moving forward in the direction of your goals!

P.S. You'll have to send a pic of those flowers. They sound so romantic. :)

Summer? Gah!!

It's going to be Winter here on the other half of the globe here. And we get buried in snow that lasts till March and even April at times.

Im in favor of flipping the globe.

Well I've never seen snow Tom, and I have this romantic notion of a 'White Christmas'. But in all honesty, I hate the cold! So I don't envy you there. I live for summer.

Kerry, wow, you've moved on quickly. It seems only a while ago that you used to refer to CH quite a bit. But, of course, we all out grow things eventually. To be honest, I'm not an avid follower (I subscribe to his blog but probably only read 1 in 10), which is why I probably haven't reached saturation point yet. I like to craze from a wide variety of sources of inspiration. I am looking forward to a 3D, more personalized dose of fatitude, though.
